Nichola has recently received support from Cedar’s Floating Support service in the South Eastern service. The team assists adults living in their own home to carry out their housing responsibilities as independently as possible by tailoring a programme to suit their individual needs. All services are focused on the goals of the person and based on partnership working with them, their families and other health professionals.

Nichola sits and smiles in her new home.“I have received support from Lisburn Floating Support twice and both times they really helped me with lots of things to help me stay independent. This time Linda helped me with my benefits and managing my budget. I save now and don’t worry anymore about bills. Linda also helped me to apply for my new apartment. I really do appreciate all the support from Cedar.”

The Floating Support service covers budget management, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, home safety, finding sources of benefits advice and information, knowing your rights as a tenant, meeting tenant responsibilities, developing social and life skills and sourcing advice on adaptations for the home.

“The support helped me feel better especially when I was going through difficult times before moving. They helped me settle into my new home and I love it. Linda has also helped me with healthy eating and exercise plan. I now get regular meals from Wiltshire farms and I’ve started walking every day.”

Nichola added:

“I am very happy in my new apartment and with the help from Delores in Clanmill, especially now I have my own front door. I feel happy and secure and enjoyed getting new furniture and decorating.
I’m pleased to be leaving the floating support service now because I know if I need them again, I can contact Linda for help and advice from the Advice Service too.”
