Today Mayor Cllr Millar invited representatives from Cedar to attend a recognition and celebration event in The Braid, Ballymena. Cedar has been announced as the first social care organisation in Northern Ireland to achieve Investors in People Platinum status and only the third organisation to be accredited at that level in the region. The recognition endorses Cedar as an organisation that commits to continually reflecting, learning and improving, that adapts to changes in the external environment, and drives continuous improvement through culture, processes, systems, strategy and people.

Welcoming guests to the event
Mayor Cllr Millar said:

“I’m really honoured to host this special event to congratulate
everyone at Cedar on their achievements. I had the pleasure of visiting the foundation’s Ballymena Centre earlier this year and after speaking to the inspirational people who have used their services, it really is an amazing organisation to be a part of.

“Council has a responsibility to promote equality and inclusivity for all citizens and to see organisations working together to deliver this is testament to the idea of community planning, translating to actual benefits for citizens in the borough. I would like to wish everyone at Cedar the very best as they continue to provide such valuable services to people with disabilities, both within this borough and across Northern Ireland.”

Stephen Mathews (CE) said:

“We are delighted to attend this event at the invitation of Mayor Cllr Millar in the surroundings of the The Braid, Ballymena. Cedar is fundamentally a social inclusion organisation, aiming to achieve positive outcomes that support individuals and families living with disability, autism and brain injury to live the lives they choose. Our Vision is to support and encourage the development of an inclusive society for all and being in this public space to celebrate the standards we uphold has been a fantastic opportunity. We would like to thank the Mayor for welcoming us so warmly.”
