A Celebration of Achievement event took place at Balmoral Hotel Belfast on 15th March 2023, to recognise the hard work and progress of participants of Cedar’s Inclusion Works Service, completing qualifications through Cedar’s in-house training classes.

Inclusion Works supports adults with disabilities to build employability skills and experience to be work ready, then move into a paid job, college course or volunteering on leaving. Specialist physical disability, ASD and brain injury support is available and tailored to each individual and their needs.

Qualifications achieved included BTEC Workskills and OCR Life and Living Skills, which form a key step in the participants’ journeys to greater independence and confidence, moving forward with their employment goals on the programme. Invited guests included Cedar User Forum and Executive Committee and staff from the Belfast and South Eastern Health Trusts, who work in partnership with Cedar to support and provide these services.

Victoria Quinn, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, commented:

“The South Eastern Trust Community Brain Injury Service is delighted to be invited to attend Cedar’s in-house training awards on the 15th March 2023 to celebrate the achievements of Cedar’s Inclusion work’s service users.  We continue to work in close partnership with Cedar to support those living with Brain Injuries to return to employment”.

Brendan Coogan, one of the participants of the training, commented:

"I found the tutors really supportive and professional, and the training was invaluable in helping me build my confidence, meet others and achieve something tangible for my CV.  The experience also helped me to secure a new job recently.”
