During ABI Week we have been reflecting on the services delivered throughout Cedar. Group members from Inclusion Works and ABI Choices in the Belfast & Southeastern area recently came together to consider all that they have learned while on service. They used the skills they have developed through in-house training to create this stunning artwork which depicts their journey and their Life Rewritten.

Image shows service users gathered around a desk cutting pieces for a collage, gluing down and highlighting a mood board.

Staff within the Cedar Inclusion Works and ABI Choices services provide specialist in-house skills training, which supports people to understand the impact of brain injury and learn compensatory strategies in the safety of a group setting to test and learn how to cope with the challenges of life after brain injury.

Modules covered include

  • Introduction to brain injury
  • Attention and Concentration
  • Memory
  • Stress
  • Fatigue
  • Planning and organising

Inclusion Works staff can also provide Working with Others after Brain Injury, which is designed to support people returning to work.

Modules in that programme include:

  • Communication skills (talking and listening skills)
  • Talking about a brain injury
  • Resolving conflict
  • Dealing with feedback
