Learning Disability Week 2024 is being celebrated this year from the 17th to 23rd June 2024. The theme of the week is ‘Do You See Me?’ It is all about being seen, heard and valued and challenging the barriers people with a learning disability face and celebrating what they bring to society.

Mencap’s My Community, Junior Gateway and Cedar (Karuna) have come together to ensure that Learning Disability Week 2024 is celebrated.

An event called ‘Do You See Me? Sensory Play and Celebration took place on Saturday 15th June 2024 from 12pm to 3pm at Carrickfergus Town Hall. It was open to the public, people with learning disabilities and their families. The event provided an opportunity to learn more about the services in the area.

Hannah McDonnell, Team Leader Karuna, said:

"We had a fantastic time. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with a diverse range of individuals and witness the enjoyment and experiences they had with the various activities available. We extend our gratitude to the organizations and individuals involved. Their hard work and dedication made the day a tremendous success for everyone involved. Let's continue spreading the message of Do You See Me."
