Chief Executive Officer

Elaine was appointed as Chief Executive in August 2021.  

Elaine is a registered Health Psychologist and holds chartered membership status with the British Psychological Society.  She is an Ulster University graduate (BSc Hons in Applied Psychology, MSc Applied Psychology, MSc Health Psychology) and holds a NVQ level 5 Operational Management qualification.  She is a member of the Regional Brain Injury Communication Group and Physical & Sensory Disability Forum.  She has played a role in the HSCB Regional Acquired Brain Injury Action Plan working groups, developing the pathway document for Adult Community Brain Injury Services for the Voluntary sector in Northern Ireland. 

Elaine has worked with Cedar Foundation since 1994. During this time, she has been instrumental in establishing the current regional Brain Injury services, launched in 1995. She has had an active role in designing and delivering socio-vocational rehabilitation programmes aimed at promoting inclusion working in close partnership with statutory services to design and deliver bespoke services for people with disability.

Elaine has experience of working on European Partnerships to bring additional expertise and learning that can be applied locally, also enhancing the opportunities for people with disabilities to have an active role in leading edge research, such as design of Brain Computer Interface technologies.

    Our History

    The Cedar Foundation was set up in 1941 as the Northern Ireland Council for Orthopaedic Development and,  forover 75 years, we have grown from an organisation dedicated to a single condition to one that focuses on the needs of the individual, whatever their disability.

    Cedar has worked in partnership with Choice Housing and Radius to provide supported living  services within West Belfast Living Options. One of these services, ‘Mourneview Court’ is a new facility located at 151 Glen Road, Belfast. This facility comprises of 11 modern two bedroom apartments based on two tenants sharing. Assistive technology is available to promote independence and daily living.
