Stephen is Chief Executive of The Cedar Foundation, a position he has held since 1991, and during his leadership the organisation has grown from less than 100 staff to our current team of over 500 staff supporting more than 3000 individuals and families living with disability, autism and brain injury to live the lives they choose. 

He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Ulster and University of Birmingham respectively, is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Stephen was recently appointed as a Commissioner with The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and is a past Chair of CO3, the membership organisation for Third Sector leaders in Northern Ireland.  He is NI advisor to UK grant-giving charitable foundation The Henry Smith Charity. Stephen’s professional interests include leadership development, strategic planning and performance management in the Third and Public Sectors. He has led the Cedar Foundation to wide recognition as an EFQM European Excellence Award winner and most recently as an Investor in People Platinum organisation. Stephen was appointed OBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours for services to people with a disability.
