Carla joined Cedar in 2019 and through the Cedar’s Inclusion Works programme has participated in one to one, group training. Carla also took up volunteering roles, primarily in the Drop Inn Charity Shop in Tandragee. These opportunities contributed to building up her employability skills and Carla recently completed her first six weeks of paid work with Kerry Foods, Portadown.
With the support of her case officer, Carla successfully applied and successfully interviewed for Kerry Foods Diversity & Inclusion paid position. Now working one day a week she fulfills a range of duties including administrative support, human resources support and working in the onsite employee shop. She even plays the role of COVID -19 Rep when on site.

Carla’s supervisor, Ruth Jones said:

“Carla has settled in well and enjoying office life and is a great help in our shop, and stocking up facemasks. She has told me this is her dream job.”

Carla is dedicated to continuing to work hard in the role and build a successful career for herself within Kerry Foods.

Inclusion Works supports adults with disabilities to build employability skills and experience to be work-ready, then move into a paid job, college course or volunteering on leaving. It is person-centred, encouraging and supporting individuals to design their own programmes around their needs and aspirations, building confidence and independence.
