WELL 2 Art Exhibition
Tuesday 28 February 2012
Members of the WELL 2 Project have produced unique Victorian artwork using a variety of techniques, materials and technology. The group of eight people have been working with the assistance of artist Tom Cunningham and the results can be seen in a new exhibition in the Saint Patrick Centre, Downpatrick.
The WELL 2 (Well-being, Education, Living and Learning) project which is funded by the Big Lottery aims to increase training opportunities and improve the health and well-being of people aged 16-25 with physical and learning disabilities, and mental health issues in the Ards, Down, North Down and Lisburn areas.
WELL 2, which is working in partnership with The Cedar Foundation, Action Mental Health and Autism NI, is helping people get involved in a range of activities and training courses to achieve qualifications, gain independence, increase self-confidence, volunteer, find work, and lead more fulfilled lives.
Project Co-ordinator Caroline Digney said, “The results of the art project are impressive. The Victorian London theme seemed to appeal to the young people who decided to create five pieces incorporating statues using digital photography and Photoshop as well as making a five feet high backdrop of London. Everyone was so enthusiastic and the young people have really expressed themselves through this project.”
