A Premier Abseil

Monday 20 June 2011

A Premier AbseilForty people from all over Northern Ireland took part in The Cedar Foundation's latest fundraising challenge, an abseil down the side of the Premier Inn in Alfred Street, Belfast on 18th June. Between them, the brave volunteers raised over £6,000 to help Cedar’s work with disabled people throughout Northern Ireland.

A Premier AbseilThis was the first ever charity abseil at the Premier Inn. Many of the participants abseiled in fancy dress, and passers  by must have been confused to see a bumble bee and Buzz Lightyear walking to the event followed by an elf, Snow White, and even a jellyfish.

The event attracted people for all kinds of reasons, for some it was their first ever abseil, some came for the new venue, and some even did the abseil to face their fears, many were accompanied by friends and family to cheer them on and witness their achievement.

A Premier AbseilChristine Tweedie, Cedar's Fundraising Co-ordinator said "We are really grateful to all the people who came along today to take part and raise so much money for our work. Anyone who missed this event can take part in our next fundraising extravaganza, a Treetops Challenge event in September."
