Lugnaquillia crowns the southern end of the Wicklow mountain range, it's the only mountain in Leinster to clear the magical height of 3000 ft, it stands at 925 metres. On a clear day, to the west you can easily see the rolling grasslands of the southern midlands. Looking north, most of the Wicklow chain of mountains lies ahead. To the East, you can see Wales and finally in the distance to the south you can easily see Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs mountains.
Carrauntoohill is located in County Kerry, and is the highest peak in Ireland. It is 1,039m (3,409 feet) tall and is the central peak of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks range. The name "Carrauntoohill" derives from the Irish language Corrán Tuathail , meaning "Tuathal's sickle"
Mweelrea is the highest point in County Mayo and in Connacht. It rises 814 metres (2,670feet) above sea level in the south-western corner of County Mayo. The mountain overlooks Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord and offers splendid views from the summit.
Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland at 849m (2,786ft). It is situated by the small seaside town of Newcastle on the east coast. Sitting at the edge of the Mourne Mountains only 2miles (3km) from the sea, it provides spectacular views of the coast and as far afield as Belfast, 30miles north. The mountain is an easy climb although the path is very eroded at places. In recent years a stone path has been made on the steepest parts of the mountain. The most prominent feature of this mountain is the Mourne Wall running along its southern and western shoulders.
