Vocational Rehabilitation & Case Management
Support and specialist training to achieve personal goals of employment, voluntary work and education after Brain Injury.
The programme is tailored to suit each individual. Time is spent initially to design and agree a personal Action Plan. Support may include:
- Career guidance
- Awareness of how Brain Injury will impact on future goals
- An opportunity to build confidence and skills to manage the challenges of Brain Injury
- Identify skills and training needs for a chosen work role
- Support to go to college or a training centre to gain qualifications
- Support to get work experience placements to test out skills and abilities
- Support to go back to a previous employer
- Securing a new work role
- Finding and supporting voluntary roles in the local area
Around 80% of people who participate in the programme achieve their vocational goals. Contact is maintained for up to 2 years after leaving the service to support individuals to maintain their outcomes.
Entry Criteria
- Adult (16+ years) who has acquired a brain injury
- Motivated to commit to a rehabilitation programme for up to 2 years
- Be medically stable.
- Be independent in self-care (or have own personal assistant).
- Have the cognitive and physical endurance for the programme.
- Absence of drug and alcohol problems that would impact on being able to take part in the programme.
- Have the necessary behavioural controls to be able to work with others in community based settings.
