Our User Forum
Anne Straghan, Chairperson
I joined The Cedar Foundation when I was a member of the Community Inclusion Programme. I was elected onto the User Forum in Aug 2008. The work of the User Forum is very interesting & rewarding, & I hope to make a worthwhile contribution during my time on it.
Claire Ward, Facilitator
My name is Claire Ward, I joined the Cedar Foundation as a Brain Injury Trainee in June 2006. I became a member of staff when I took on the post of Clerical Officer in May 2007. I joined the User Forum in 2008 & became the Facilitator in July 2009. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Forum & am looking forward to this new challenging role.
Donna Keatings, Secretary
I joined the User Forum in 2008 & it has given me confidence. I have taken on the role of Secretary & I am completing a ‘CLAIT’ course which will help me carry out my duties. I intend to continue fulfilling this role for the foreseeable future.
Geraldine Johnston
My name is Geraldine Johnston. I am a resident of Ardkeen and have become a member of The Cedar Foundation User Forum in January 2007. I like to do crosswords.

The User Forum has been good for me in making new friends & it has really built my confidence. I find the User forum very helpful & supportive…. I’d recommend it to anyone.
Robbie Wylie
I’m from Bonnie Scotland but I live in Belfast now. I attend day centres to improve my computer studies. I also enjoy going indoor bowling which I attend every week.

I like speaking in public - I am very good at this. I have a bright personality & I like to entertain people & make them laugh. I also like taking photos & I take great pleasure in showing the results. Being on the User Forum makes me feel at home & it helps me deal with my isolation.

Hello, my name is Clare Soutar, I have 4 brothers. I live at home with my mum & 2 of my brothers. I started the User Forum in 2007. My friends & I have a good time in Cedar. I like listening to music & watching TV. I enjoy being part of the User Forum.
Ryan Conway
Hi, I'm Ryan Conway, I live with my mum & 3 sisters. I attend the Cedar Foundation in Ballymena. I enjoy surfing the internet, watching TV & listening to music.
I've been a member of the User Forum since 2008 & find it very interesting.
Gary Elwood
I am a resident in Ballymacoss (Cedar Foundation living options). I joined the User Forum because it helps towards my independence. I look forward to making a valued contribution to the User Forum. I enjoy the social activities in both Balmoral & Ballymacoss.
Denise Murdock
I found out about the Cedar Foundation through my GP. Cedar has made such a difference to my life. It has really helped my independence. I enjoy computer studies & socialising with other people with disabilities who are also treated as 'normal'. I also enjoy the craic in Balmoral.
Larry Anderson
I am happily married. I am an athlete & a volunteer with Special Olympics, I volunteer with 'All Stars' athletics club, & I am a member of 'Pin Pals' ten pin bowling club. I have Level I & Level II qualifications in catering & am also a volunteer with Cancer Research.
Katrina Black
Hi my name is Katrina Black. I am currently working for the Cedar Foundation, Brain Injury Services, Balmoral as an Administration Assistant which I started in October 2008. I currently attend CLIC Sargent which is a cancer charity. As a group of young people we go on residentials and have different socials with CLIC Sargent. The User Forum and CLIC Sargent are similar in being there for people. So I’m looking forward to my time with the User Forum.
Paul Caughey
I am delighted to be a member of the User Forum. I feel my experience as 'Access Auditor' with ADAPT NI will enable me to put the needs of our service users to the forefront. I look forward to using my experience to contribute to the work of the User Forum, and give something back for the excellent service I receive.
