Mr Peter Gay, Chairman

Mr Peter GayPeter is a Management Consultant, with a broad range of experience in advising organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors and has a particular expertise in evaluating programmes that have been supported through various European Funding initiatives.

Peter also serves on the Training & Employment Advisory Panel, advising the organisation on service developments in this arena.


Dr Lesley Calderwood, Vice Chair

Dr Lesley CalderwoodLesley as a member of the Executive Committee, assumed responsibility as Vice Chair in 1992. Trained as a Consultant Psychiatrist, Lesley also Chairs the Cedar Foundation Living Options Advisory Panel and has steered the organisation in the development of SMART housing and community based support for people with disabilities over the last number of years.

Other interests include serving on the Board of Habinteg Housing Association, including participation on their Housing Management Committee.

Mr Brian McGuire, Honorary Treasurer

Mr Brian McGuireBrian joined the Executive Committee in 1990, assuming responsibility as Honorary Treasurer in 1991, as such he Chair’s the organisation’s Finance & General Purposes Committee. Brian is the founding Principal Partner in Chartered Certified Accountancy practice, McGuire Farry.

Brian currently represents the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants on the Working Together initiative with the Inland Revenue, Technical Committee of CCABI and the Business Law Committee of ACCA. He also has an interest in the promotion of integrated education and serves as a Member of the Board of Governors of Lagan College.

Mr David Duly OBE

Mr David Duly OBEDavid is Chief Executive of Habinteg Housing Association (Ulster) Ltd, a post that he has held since 1983. The Association is the principal partner with which the Foundation has developed and delivered a range of housing solutions for people with disabilities.

David is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health. His other interests include Membership of the Investors in People Awarding Panel, the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations and he is currently President of Holywood, Chamber of Commerce. David currently serves on the Finance & General Purposes Committee and the Living Options Panel of the Foundation.

Mrs Myrna Evans

Mrs Myrna EvansMyrna is a Systems Analyst, she currently participates in the Cedar Foundation as a Member of the Foundation’s Parent Action Team which informs developments within Children & Young People’s Services.

As a parent of a young child with a physical disability, Myrna also participates in the Children & Young People’s Advisory Panel, advising the Executive and monitoring developments in this arena.



Mr Chris Henderson

Mr Chris HendersonChris is a Senior Bank Official with the Ulster Bank. He serves as a member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee advising the organisation on a broad range of matters from banking through to investment options.

Working in the North West of the Province, Chris has taken a particular interest in service development for the Children & Young People’s Services and the Brain Injury Services in the Londonderry area.


Dr Nan Hill OBE

Dr Nan Hill OBENan currently serves as Chair of the Children & Young People’s Advisory Panel, she is a Consultant Paediatrician.

Nan also has a broad range of experience in supporting other voluntary organisations, including the Association of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and has a particular interest in promoting research and development in support services for children with disabilities throughout Northern Ireland.

Mr Martin Howell

Mr Martin HowellMartin is the Chair of the Training & Employment Advisory Panel.

Martin is Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for Business in the Community. He has a particular interest in supporting people with disabilities into the world of work as Chairman of the Employers Forum for Disability as well as a broad range of government advisory panels, including the Department for Employment & Learning Disability Liaison Group.



Dr John McCann

John is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and is currently Clinical Director of the Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit at Musgrave Park Hospital.

John also serves on the Executive Committee of Habinteg Housing Association and has an interest in service developments and partnerships in this area. He is a past Chair of Headway Belfast and continues to serve on its Board of Directors.
