New Deal for Disabled People

The Cedar Foundation believes that everyone is entitled to work, and that people with disabilities can make a valuable contribution to the workplace. New Deal for Disabled People (NDDP) provides help to those who are ready to work.

Eligibility

Have a disability
Age 16yrs or over
Live in Newtownabbey, Lisburn or Belfast
In receipt of disability related benefit

The Job Broking Programme will provide a range of services to help support an individual in finding and keeping a suitable job.

Assistance will include:

Preparation of a work focused action plan
Develop and enhance employability skills
Career guidance
One-to-one support
Job search support and guidance
Support for six months after a person starts work

David Wins Google Scholarship

David Todd, one of Cedar’s Living Options tenants has been awarded a €7,000 scholarship having been selected to be part of the Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities.

Rockin For Cerebral Palsy

Tickets are now on sale for a charity rock event entitled ‘Rockin’ for Cerebral Palsy’ due to take place at the King’s Head Belfast on Wednesday 15th September 2010, with all proceeds going to The Cedar Foundation.

Cedar Builds Belfast Homes with Habitat For Humanity

11 staff members from The Cedar Foundation’s Children and Young People’s Services have taken a day out from their normal work routine to spend a day building homes in Madrid Street, East Belfast.
