Mongolia Khangai Horse Trek
16 August - 28 August 2008
15 August - 27 August 2009
Ride sturdy Mongolian horses for 200km through the remote valleys of the Khangai mountains of central Mongolia, witnessing the traditional herding lifestyle of the Khalkh Mongols.
Mongolia stirs up visions of wide open landscapes, wild horses galloping across the steppes and a nomadic life little changed since the times of Genghis Khan.
We ride sturdy Mongolian horses for 200km through the remote valleys of the Khangai mountains of central Mongolia, witnessing the traditional herding lifestyle of the Khalkh Mongols. We follow tracks through valleys and mountains, crossing rivers and passing round felt gers before finishing our journey at Kharkhorin, the historic centre of Genghis Khan’s Mongol Empire. This is a rare opportunity to experience the beautiful, untouristed landscapes of the ‘land of blue sky.’
