Disability Awareness Training

A range of training options for schools, youth clubs, universities and leisure centers including accredited training.


Our Disability Awareness Training options include:


Assemblies for Primary School Pupils incorporating stories, pictures and games.

Assemblies for Secondary School Pupils tailored to individual school needs.



Disability Awareness Sessions. These can last from one hour through to a full day and can be tailored to suit Staff, Secondary School Pupils or University Level Students. The sessions can be tailored to suit group needs for example as part of the Local and Global Citizenship module or as part of a Youth Work or Social Work module. In general sessions will look at issues such as: what is a disability? Disability etiquette; stereotypes and prejudice; personal experiences; the law and disability, empathy and barriers to inclusion.



OCN Level 1: Disability Awareness training: New for the 08/09 year this is a 8-10 hour accredited module which encourages participants to look at their own attitudes, values and beliefs towards others in society including those with a disability before moving on to look at definitions of disability, recognising barriers to community inclusion, understanding the law in relation to disability discrimination, understanding language and etiquette pertaining to disability and models of disability.
