Northern Ireland Quality AwardsThe Cedar Foundation was delighted to be awarded the prestigious Northern Ireland Quality Award at The Centre for Competitiveness Global Excellence Quality Awards NI Gala Ceremony at the Ramada Hotel on Monday 30th January. This ceremony recognises organisations that have demonstrated excellence in their overall business performance.

The Northern Ireland Quality Award is part of a pan-European recognition system that has been developed and administered locally by The Centre for Competitiveness, formerly The Northern Ireland Quality Centre. It is based on the full European Foundation for Quality Management Excellence Model, which offers organisations the benefits of a structured approach to identifying organisational strengths and areas for improvement. Achieving the Northern Ireland Quality Award confirms The Cedar Foundation as “a role model organisation in Northern Ireland that has developed a mature approach to continuous improvement”. The Cedar Foundation is also the first voluntary organisation to win this prestigious award.

LogoThe Cedar Foundation is no stranger to quality awards. It was the first voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland to use the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model and has been twice awarded the Mark of Excellence (2002 and 2004). In addition the Foundation’s Training Services have won 5 National Training Awards and The Cedar Foundation was one of the first three organisations in Europe to be awarded the European Quality in Rehabilitation Mark (EQRM) in 2003. The Cedar Foundation was also the first winner of a Charter Mark award in partnership with a health & social services trust and the Foundation is also accredited with ISO 9001:2000, and has been an Investor in People since 1997.

Mr Stephen Mathews, Chief Executive of The Cedar Foundation said “ This terrific achievement is evidence of a commitment and dedication from volunteers, staff and service users across the organisation promoting quality services for people with physical disability through a process of continuous improvement”.
