The User Forum Fashion ShowThe Cedar Foundation held its third User Forum Fashion Show to raise money to provide services for disabled people in Northern Ireland last Wednesday, hosted by BBC TV personality Sarah Travers, who did a fantastic job.

Clothes were provided by George at ASDA, from their recently refurbished superstore at Cityside Retail Park. What is unique about the show is that it was organised by and starred disabled people who use the services of The Cedar Foundation.

Anne McAleer, User Forum Facilitator explains more:

“The idea for the Fashion Show came from a member of the Forum, way back in 2004; we thought it would be a great way to showcase the talents of disabled people so we got to work organising the show. It has gone from strength to strength over the years, the first year we had only female models, the next year a few men joined in and this year we have almost as many men as women, both disabled and non-disabled. Lots of User Forum members and staff helped on the night and it was a great success”.

“A very big thanks to ASDA who provided the clothes and accessories, along with Mumra Rings and Freshwater Designs. The fashion show was co-ordinated by Cedar Staff and The User Forum, a group of disabled people who help to influence the decisions made by Cedar and whose aim is to make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people in Northern Ireland”.
