South Belfast's Fleming Fulton School have presented The Cedar Foundation with a cheque of £550, following their annual 'Pennies from Heaven' appeal.
Pupils in a post 16 age group co-ordinated the fundraising appeal from start to finish. Back at Halloween time the group launched the 'Pennies from Heaven' initiative, disseminating over 250 plastic bottles to school pupils, staff, family and friends, asking them to fill them up to the top with pennies. In the run up to Christmastime the group collected all the bottles back in and began counting the money. This appeal raised a grand total of £3,400 and the funds have been shared across six charities.
18 year old Deputy Head Girl Maria Miskelly on presenting the cheque to Cedar's Lisa McClenaghan, commented, "We had loads of fun running the 'Pennies from Heaven' appeal. I go to The Cedar Foundation all the time and I really enjoy it. It was nice to be able to help raise some money for your charity."
