The Cedar Foundation created a temporary prison for the day at Phoenix Natural Gas, Airport Road West, on Friday 26th February to raise vital funds for the charity through holding a fundraising event named 'Jail and Bail.'
Sammy Wilson MP MLA alongside representatives from Tibus, Novosco and Cedar agreed to 'give themselves up', they were then handcuffed to a policeman and taken into holding in Phoenix's boardroom where they had their fingerprints and mug shots taken. The prisoners were then tasked with raising at least £500 bail money by phoning business contacts, friends and family before they were allowed to be released.
Sammy Wilson said, "This beats the Assembly- my cellmates did not ask me for money, ask hard questions or accuse me of cutting their budgets! This was a fun way of spending a lunch to raise money for a worthwhile charity."
Tibus' Paul Kennedy said,"The last time I was in jail was a bad experience, but being hand cuffed to Sammy Wilson is hard to beat! Happy to help The Cedar Foundation with their marvellous work!"
Phoenix Natural Gas CEO, Peter Dixon commented, "I am delighted to be hosting the group of temporary 'inmates' for the day. Phoenix has supported The Cedar Foundation over many years and we are pleased that the event has been a great success with much money raised!"
Christine Tweedie, Cedar's Fundraising Co-ordinator said,"Thank you to all the companies who participated in today's event and The Cedar Foundation extend our thanks to Phoenix for letting us use their facilities. The money raised from this event will help us to continue work towards a vision of a society in which disabled adults and children are fully included citizens."
