Entertainer Richard Stilgoe officially handed over the keys of The Cedar Foundation''s brand new mini-bus at a ceremony at The Europa Hotel, in Belfast, on Wednesday. Richard is President of the Lords Taverners'' charity who have raised more than a quarter of a million pounds for specially adapted minibuses during the last year. The minibus will be used to transport children and adults with physical disability to and from social activities such as the cinema, shopping, day trips, leisure centres and swimming pools.
Stephen Mathews, Chief Executive of The Cedar Foundation added:
"The mini-bus will make a real difference to the lives of young people with physical disabilities in Northern Ireland. It will make it much easier for them to enjoy activities that most of us take for granted". The Cedar Foundation''s Children and Young People Service works with children and young adults with cerebral palsy and related disabilities. Our Training Services and Living Options work with people with a wide range of congenital and acquired disabilities including cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, hydrocephalus and epilepsy as well as people with brain injury. The support is provided through a range of person-centred programmes which are delivered and co-ordinated from sites across Northern Ireland.
