Date Posted: Friday 05 September 2003

Cedar Foundation logoThe Cedar Foundation is currently offering a second group of unemployed people a unique opportunity to take part in their new Project Resource Training Programme and become one of only thirty qualified professional Disability Resource Workers holding a qualification through the Open College Network at a level equivalent to NVQ level 2/3.

Project Resource has been designed to provide learners with the skills needed to support students with a disability to access courses and training run by Further Education Providers. In partnership with the Belfast Institute of Further & Higher Education, learners on this part-time programme will, over a six-month period, attend training sessions and gain practical experience on placement within BIFHE.

They will study a diverse range of core topics including Disability Awareness Training and Adaptive Technology. They can also choose from a range of additional units to specialise in areas such as Sensory Impairments or Traumatic Brain Injury while gaining the European Computer Driving Licence and the Public First Aid Certificate.

Funded by PEACE II through Proteus, this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who may be unemployed and who may have been considering a challenging and rewarding career in either the Care or Disability sector. This free training will allow them to gain a totally new qualification and recognition as a skilled and professional Disability Resource Worker. Anyone interested in Project Resource can get further information by contacting: Denise Clements, Project Resource Officer, The Cedar Foundation Training Services, 1 Upper Lisburn Road, Belfast, BT10 0GW or Tel: 028 90612424 or e-mail: d.clements@cedar-foundation.org
