The purpose of the event was to highlight the success of the programme and to give recognition to the participants, who have physical disabilities, for the hard work and commitment they had given to the programme.
The programme, which was funded by The Community Relations Council, brought together two very diverse groups of people with different religious beliefs, political opinions, traditions and cultural backgrounds, who had no previous opportunity for common activity.
The project allowed us to deliver a programme of mutual understanding and shared history sessions, which enabled the participants to explore their common issues, shared history and community backgrounds.
Stephen Gardiner, who picked up a certificate at the Waterfront event, described it as an excellent opportunity to meet people with similar problems from across Belfast. "It was really worthwhile and I am glad I took part" said Stephen.
