Tractors Trek for The Cedar Foundation

Date Posted: Monday 07 June 2004

TractorIt's not often you see a convoy of nearly 30 vintage tractors and cars travelling through the centre of towns such as Moneymore, Ballyclare and Antrim but that?s exactly what?s going to happen on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July as the Mid-Ulster Vintage Vehicles Club takes to the roads of Northern Ireland to raise money for The Cedar Foundation.

The Club raises money every year for a different charity and The Cedar Foundation are delighted that they have been chosen for 2004. The Foundation works in partnership with people in Northern Ireland who have physical disability, developing and delivering services that promote quality, choice, opportunity and independence.

The Vintage Tractor and Car Trek begins and ends at Moneymore, starting at 9.30am on Friday, the convoy will then travel through Loup, Ballyronan, Toomebridge, Randalstown, Antrim, Ballycraigy Estate, Parkgate, Doagh, Ballyclare finishing for the day at Ballyeaston. Saturday sees a 10.30am start from Ballyeaston, travelling through Broughshane, Ballymena, Cullybackey, Ahoghill, Portglenone, Bellaghy, Castledawson and Magherafelt, finishing at 6.30pm back at Moneymore. Come out and show your support on the day in the town nearest to you.

Christine Tweedie, Fundraising Officer with The Cedar Foundation adds;

"It's definitely not your typical fundraising event but it's going to be great fun. The Mid-Ulster Vintage Vehicles Club have raised a lot of money for charity in the past and they know that every penny raised will go towards to working with people who have physical disability in Northern Ireland."

Christine continues:

"We need all the help we can get on the day. The more people we have going ahead of the convoy to the next town, the more money we will be able to collect".
