Staff from Musgrave Group of Retail Partners volunteer with Cedar
The Musgrave Group of retail partners, which locally includes SuperValu, Mace and Centra shops, encouraged their staff to volunteer supporting individuals with physical disabilities with The Cedar Foundation.
Six staff members gave their time to disabled individuals learning about computers, employability and cookery, to help them prepare for employment. Min Shen, from Musgrave’s I.T. Department, used his skills with Chinese food to bring new flavours to the Cookery Class and said, “I really enjoyed making good use of my cookery and people skills in this way. It gave me a chance to do something different while making a big difference to people’s lives. It was great fun and very rewarding. I respect my employer for allowing me to have this opportunity”.
Michael, a Cedar Foundation participant commented, “It’s been great having Sue here in the employability class as she has shown us what an employer is looking for”
The Cedar Foundation and Musgrave Group, supported in this by Business in the Community NI, feel that this type of partnership is vital for building a co-operative and progressive local community.
