Brendan Pierce at Public Achievement

Brendan PierceBrendan entered onto our programme with minimal qualifications, no training, no work experience and complete uncertainty about what type of work he wanted to do. Brendan felt that his health was what was holding him back. He had a surgical procedure in mid-2008 which helped to control his seizures. Brendan quickly went on to achieve Level 1 in Numeracy, Literacy and I.T.  He participated with enthusiasm in our Summer programmes, doing activities such as Boccia and New Age Kurling.

Brendan has completed a number of very valuable work placements which explored his interest in Administration. He worked at Public Achievement where his work was always accurate and delivered on time. The placement here was extended indefinitely due to the high value of his influence on the successful running of the office.  This placement helped to give Brendan a working knowledge of Administration and enabled him to complete a Diploma in Administration. Brendan continued to improve his Literacy & Numeracy skills by completing Level 2 in these areas.

Brendan then demonstrated great confidence in initiating a change of vocational direction. Brendan spent a great deal of his free time in training at his local boxing club. This was something he was very passionate about and went on to coach some of the younger members. Brendan applied this passion to studying towards a First Diploma in Sport through BMC and is now applying for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. Brendan’s tutor has every confidence that Brendan will fulfil his ambitions as a Sports Coach as he has the dedication and self-discipline to succeed.
