We empower uS bH

We empower uS bH is a transnational development, trial and transfer of an occupational assistance concept for people with the disabilities Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Cedar have recently teamed up with seven other European partners from four different countries to undertake research aimed at improving career and learning opportunities for people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. The project is funded by the European Commission through the Leonardo Project; it will run for thirty months, November 2010 to April 2013 and will involve seven project meetings in Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and in Belfast. Some of the meetings will include service user representatives from all the partners who can share ideas with each other on how to improve life opportunities for themselves and others with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida. The project will conclude with an International Symposium in Germany in April 2013, where partners will showcase their results. A large part of the work being undertaken by the project team will involve the development, trial and transfer of a support catalogue for this target group containing action guidelines and practical aids to enhance learning and career opportunities. The team will also look at expanding the range of practical work placements which up to now has been mostly limited to office and administrative areas. Information will also be produced and made available to employers, disability organisations and rehabilitation centres to raise awareness of the unique challenges encountered by people with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida and provide sound practical advice on how these challenges can be met.
